There are two ways you can try launching the software on Windows 10:
Compatibility: if you have the setup package, right click it and choose Troubleshoot Compatibility. If you select this option, Windows will automatically choose the best settings and change program's launch based on the version of Windows tested.
Virtualization: Simply install VirtualBox and then Windows XP in the virtual machine. You'll have a chance running the application this way, but it's not guaranteed that it will work since HomeCraft Software ORGANIZE! Your Collection was't developed for XP as well.
Unfortunately, there is no manual available for the application. I've searched the web and on the official website for manuals or for traces regarding Organize! Your Collection, and nothing could be found.
The reason for this is that Organize! Your Collection is a discontinued application, but if you have it installed, then go to its installation directory to check for manuals in PDF or HLP format.
Any idea what kind of database is used in the Organize Your Collection software from Homecraft? Been using this program forever but looks like it may be time to move on and I would like to transfer the data to another database.

This type of applications uses local files to store the added content. The database file should be located in the installation directory or you have the possibility to export it to another format with the help of the built-in export utility. If you have the software installed, open the database, then go to File > Export. Choose a location and you should have the possibility to save the database to a custom place.
Is this the same "Organize your Collection" that came out in the 90's for organizing your books, albums, pens, mails, and others? The Company went out of business a few years later. It was on a floppy disc, and it wasn't available in any other format. I have not been able to reinstall it in my new computer because it is not compatible with Windows 7. I installed it using "virtual access" for Windows XP, but I still have many problems. If this is the same program, I want it. I want to install it over my existing OYC program in order to avoid re-inputting the data. I have over 3000 books, and 1000 albums, plus a large mail list.

The last version of ORGANIZE! Your Collection (OYC) is online at:
It is there temporarily and may be removed when the web site needs to be used for its intended purpose (talking about industrial label printers).
ORGANIZE! Your Collection (OYC) can be easily used with Windows 7 using virtual XP mode. This is provide so that Windows 7 can run XP software. This feature was also provided in Vista, but it was very difficult to find and install. On Windows 7 it is a fairly easy process, and you can then use any XP software you may still have. (I have some old games that have been fun to play.)
The instructions for installing XP Mode are available from Microsoft at:
Now, for a number of categories, I get an error message and OYC crashes when I try to add a third sort criteria. I use this for my record collection and in the past I could always sort by name, label and number. Now it often crashes when I try to add the number to the sort and the message says that it's already included (but it's not). What can I do?

The recommended solution to solve your problem is to uninstall and reinstall the program. Just navigate to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program, select the software from the list and click Uninstall. After that, reboot the computer and install the utility again. If you still have problems, you can try using another similar application from Software Informer database.
The hard drive on my PC crashed. Best-Buy Geek Squad has installed a new hard drive to my PC, but to transfer my OYC data from my laptop to the PC, they said they need to know where my book collection is stored on my laptop. Can anyone help me with this? I really don't understand why this is such a problem.

The catalogs that are used by the program are usually installed in the same folder as the program. The default location of it is : C: \ Program Files \ HomeCraft \ ORGANIZE! Your Collection. If you choose other location to save your data, you should start with that one.
In order to run HomeCraft Software ORGANIZE! Your Collection with Windows 8, you can try the Compatibility Mode. Right click on the program icon and go to Properties > Compatibility tab. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box and select a compatible Windows operating system from the drop-down list. Click Apply and then OK. You can check Microsoft Support web page for further information.
